KILL YOUR IDOLS

A graphic memoir about reckoning with my rock and roll idols from adolescence from the perspective of middle age.

I began this project back in 2018 when I was pretty new to comics, and then it ripened on the shelf for five years before I felt ready to finish it. I still have a ways to go, but I’d say it's over halfway complete now!

Part One: Fandom

I first released this as a 24 page minicomic in 2024. It's an in-depth exploration of my taste in music as a teenager, with an emphasis on Sonic Youth and Jane's Addiction, and deep dives into my IDOLS Kim Gordon and Perry Farrell. Here are some sample pages:

Part TWO: Live & In Person

This new 2026 issue explores what happens when I see my idols perform live, troubling the fantasy world I had constructed in Part 1. It features poignant anecdotes from 90s concerts and beyond, drawn with love and the perspective that only time can provide. This 36 page minicomic is written, drawn, and ready to go to press.
